The 125cc Motorcycle Permit is a permit which is given to drivers in possession of a valid Maltese car driving license in order to drive motorcycles with engine capacity of up to 125cc around Malta and Gozo.
To get the motorcycle permit you need to complete a mandatory course of 10 hours. There are no tests at the end of this course.

If your country of origin is a member of the European Union, you just need to exchange your driving license to a Maltese one by completing Transport Malta’s Exchange of License Form. We do offer this service.
If your country of origin is not a member of the European Union, you need to apply for the Category A License.
If your country of origin is member of the European Union, first you need to exchange your driving license to a Maltese one. You would need to complete the Exchange of License Application and submit it to Transport Malta. We do offer this service. Once you receive the Maltese driving license, the next step is to apply for the learners permit in order to start the lessons. The necessary forms can be found in our ‘Forms’ Section.

You can apply by downloading our Application Form from the ‘Forms’ Section. Once completed you can bring it to us at the shop between 9.00 a.m. and 7 p.m.
If you want to do the 125cc course, you need to complete the ‘125cc Course Application Form’ found in the ‘Forms’ Section.
If you want to do the A1 / A2 / A Licenses you need to complete the ‘Application Form (Category A)’ found in the ‘Forms’ Section.
For you own safety, training will start in a designated parking area. We have a strict syllabus to follow in order to prepare you well for the test. However, if you are an experienced driver you are likely to go through this syllabus more quickly.
You must always wear:
• Helmet (CE Approved): We have a number of helmets available, however, for hygiene purposes, it would be better if you bring your own helmet.
• Gloves: We recommend wearing full fingered motorcycle gloves.
• Jacket: We recommend wearing a motorcycle jacket with proper protection.
• Trousers: Riding trousers or jeans. Strictly no shorts or skirts.
• Footwear: Shoes or boots that provide ankle protection. Strictly no sandals.
• Hi-Vis Vest: We will provide you with a high-visibility vest which must be worn at all times during the lesson.
You must also bring a set of headphones when you start training on the road. Your instructor will advise you accordingly.
At ThrottleX we are very flexible in order to accommodate your needs. We are open from Monday to Saturday and you can book your lessons on the day and at the time which is most convenient for you.
Cancellations must be made 48 hours in advance. Short notice cancellations will be charged.
Lessons will first start in a designated car park. Once the instructor is satisfied with your handling of the bike, you will start training on the road.
When on the road, the instructor will give you directions via a Bluetooth system provided by the school. The instructor will be driving behind you. This is for your own safety but also to assess your abilities and address your weak points.
